Minoxidil for Hair Loss
Even dermatologists get hair thinning.
When I noticed clumps of hair in the shower drain, I checked the same factors I look for in my patients, including: hormones, thyroid, iron, deficiencies and toxicities.
After correcting a severe iron deficiency, I also started low-dose oral minoxidil, which works by prolonging the hair growth phase. Three months later, I’m finally seeing new hair growth (as well as peach fuzz on my upper lip).
It’s a prescription pill with side effects that can include low blood pressure and hypertrichosis (excess hair growth in other areas), so if you’re considering it, be sure to discuss with a dermatologist experienced in hair loss therapies. Comment HAIR for the exact blood tests I ordered.
